Whilst it may appear to be 'just a butt cap', it is actually part of the internal design and is machined on the other side to fit to something else inside. It is an important component, but I just decided I had an opportunity to add branding.

machined to protect the F1 joint on the end then?

Eh?

There is no joint at the bottom of the extensions, so the answer is no. This fits an internal component of extension.

Although I am considering making some joint protectors as people have asked a bit in the past.
