Exactly, I've found that out a couple of times witnessing both sanding the shaft/rolling the cue, I now keep quiet instead of getting told where to go...

Not only the old boys that do that, pretty much everyone in the club I go to does that. Makes me laugh when people walk into the club and pick up a few rack cues and begin rolling them on the table. Quite ironic really, you'd think if they were such experts and connoisseurs of cues like they act then they'd have their own cue! :snooker:

Does anyone know how\why the "cue rolling" gimmick came about? I first saw it done in the Hustler though i wasn't immediately obvious to me why he was doing it at the time, obviously it predates that movie though,
