not that I go to car boot (or even cue boot) events often but me and the missus went past one a while back, not a big event but we wandered round. I saw only two cue cases: 1) battered 2pc black vinyl with a unmarked battered cue, and the second was an unusual resin-fibre case, old with a name on it that I cant remember now, the cue was a "Jimmy White" Argos "Special".

My guess would be early 80s, the joint looks pre-Steve Davis "SD" joint, which IIRC came out late 80s.
Hopefully someone else can give their opinion as well.

I have a 1982 Barracuda Gold Medal , centre joint , a 1990s North West centre joint and a 2004 ( ish ) North West 3/4 , the joints are the same as on this JP , even down to the number of threads , but obviously the 3/4 has a larger brass disc face. I can only suggest that a) JP used the same source as Barracuda and later NW for the joint , although I have never seen a JP joint like this before , OR b) that the cue was jointed later by Kevin at NW cues. I believe " b " is the more likely of the two. I have owned a JP dated as early as 1986 and the joint was not of this type.Hope this helps.
