    i never tried. i was into playing for a few quid and giving out silly handycaps. at the time there was no better buzz like playing for your wages at the end of the week. still in the club saturday morning with the cleaners hovering around your feet.

    Can I ask how close you came J? If that's not too personal, It must have been pretty damn close.
    Just to add I have played players that tried their had at the qualifiers in Blackpool back in the day and they don't cue as nice as you.

    yeah the splice work is good on this. and if you get on with yours, your welcome to sand it back for a proper respice

    ithink most of those shafts are worth cutting down.
    i dont do to much sanding, most of its done with the plane. even then the face mask is the first thig to go on in the workshop

    I hope these shafts are worth the hours invested in immaculate slice work. I get a nose bleed at the thought of having to sand and finish another cue. This is way out of my league.

    Yeah i'm running out of projects at the moment as been through most if the club cues, members old cues, rests etc etc

    Might have to finally have a pop at a cue but been talking about that for far too long. Spent ages going through wood at the different suppliers but couldn't find anything after at least 3 days looking at individual planks!

    yes this rw cue was a right lump, but after some tlc withthe hand plane it showed itself as a decent playing cue
    and your right about the good old stuff, thing is is getting it. that would be a full time job.

    Must admit, I love bringing cues back from the dead, especially ones that have been really smashed about. There's a lot of cues like the Rex Williams one floating about that people see as worthless as it's not new but there's a lot of nice wood out there.....
