I thought the secondary butt slices looked a little like Tulipwood.
Wood identification can be really tricky sometimes!

yeah remember that cue being on here ages ago, definitely olivewood, think it was inspired by the Osbourne cue Ronnie used for a season which had the same design.

Looks like bocote to me. But most bocote i've seen has quite a bit more grain than that

WoW Jim, what a collection, are you a collector or running a cue sell room? I am currently looking for a 1 piece cue, could you give me some advice? I am not after some fancy designed butt, I am looking for a cue with a good quality shaft, which cue maker will you recommend? Thx

The cue looks great, I am searching for something like this, how much was it? and how long does it takes to be made?

Loving the front splice on your cue, really stands out against the ebony/maple veneers

Thanks cueman. All I asked for is tight side grain and 6-8 arrows , as for the stiffness of the shaft I didn't specified that but left it to John devices to choose the suitable one. It turned out quite freaking good.

To be honest I don't judge how stiff is the shaft but rather see how it feels on the given shot. So far it performs flawless on all range of shots. I noticed thought that deflection is literally none existent.

When you start to concentrating on how stiff is the shaft or other aspects of the cue , you don't really concentratin on actually playing the game let alone enjoying it. ( speaking for myself here)

    It's all in the mind.

Beatiful Ultimate there, did you request a specific grain on the shaft or was this just how it turned up? What is the stiffness like?
