Today I loaded up everything in my truck and dropped it off for spraying. By the weekend I should have it all back.

hi Les just and observation on this photo of the pockets leathers and plates .

From the photo of that middle pocket , it looks like someone who has taken this table apart has let the cushion fall with the pocket plate still inserted in the centre hole and as it has fallen it has bent the single prong to the left in this photo , by some considerable amount , this I have seen many times when people do not support the cushions as they unbolt it, and it falls sometimes not just bending the plate but also splitting the top capping surround wood as the prong is forced through it .
you may want to strip the pocket leather and net back off this plate and put the brass pocket plate in a vice and tap the prong back gently until aligning back up correct , if you put it together like it is the plate may not align correctly and also may damage that top capping surround of the cushions you have just had re-polished .

check all other pocket plates for the same damage too .

Thanks for your input Geoff. I actually wondered about that pocket as it did not look right to me either. I will pull it a part and tap it back.

If you have a blowlamp work it hot. Brass work hardens very easily.

I am sure I will. I also think just sitting at the bar admiring my table will be on my list..... started sanding the legs out at 1:30 this afternoon and finished them at 10:30 tonight. Ready for spray booth in the morning. All the refurbishing is done now I just wait for all the peices to come back and it will be time to put it together.

Yes. I just dropped them off to be sprayed. He says I have not seen anything yet wait till he hits them with a coat of sanding sealer then sands them down and sprayes to coats of lacquer on them. He says the grain will just pop. Told me he is going to text me tomorrow and I can come by to see how they look with just the sanding sealer on them. I will make sure I get a photo.

Just received three photos from the guy finnishing all my table parts. Sanding sealer is going on as I type this. Next everything will get sanded down lightly then two coats of Laquer. Getting very excited now.

Thanks. I have not been down to see them in person as I am too busy with work but hope to get there tomorrow night. Everything could actually be ready for pickup tomorrow night.

LOL I know the suspense is killing you guys but my wife always say good things happen to those who wait. The reason she always says this to me is I am not a guy with a lot of patience. I like things done now not tomorrow.... I just about killed myself for three weeks at night getting my table to showroom condition. The only hiccup in my plans is the guy backing out on buying my table. He has given me a deposit but I find out last night he needs $8,000 in engineering and work done in his basement to fit my table. Extra heavy beam put in and post moved. I should no tonight the outcome. He really wants my table.

My guy just sent me two photos of the finished legs. He said as soon as he hit them with the Laqeur the grain just popped on them. He said they look better then new.

Tonight I picked up the legs and both end peices for the frame. They look fantastic. The rest i pickup Friday night and Saturday my son and I will put the frame together hooks on, heaters and lighting and ready for Slate on Monday
