  • Removing stains from the table cloth

Have any of you ever had to remove a stain from a snooker cloth?

If so, what did you use and how did it go?

Pure acetone is used to erase baulk lines on re-stretch and small stains , but if it is a drinks spill like coke then i'm afraid it is almost impossible to get rid of .
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-LITRE-...QAAOSwd0BVq9n~

buy it in at least 2.5 litre , it is expensive to buy in small bottles

get a bit of old snooker cloth off cut and soak it in acetone and rub the stain ,
if not a cloth that will not shed colour or bits onto your billiard cloth .
don't worry the acetone will not remove the colour from the billiard cloth

do not inhale the fumes of Acetone you will go dizzy !!!!

I suppose it depends on what has caused the stain.

          Appreciate your input Geoff.

The stain I was struggling with was black biro ink!!

I managed to take a pen from the club pen pot and write a guys match on the wall. I then went to play snooker and after a few minutes noticed a large blob of something on the table.

After a lot of messing around trying to understand what it was I found the original pen and sure enough it was leaking and had got on my hand (imagine my horror!!).

At 09:30 on a Sunday morning I had to make a decision so used the sanitiser / soap in the dispenser and actually managed to get pretty much most of it out; it was either that or leave it which would have been a new cloth I reckon.

I have ordered some ink stain remover to try on a piece of cloth (Anodex) .

I will let you know how I get on.

Just one of those things but nearly gave myself a heart attack!

Not seen that one before Ramon.

Got to admit, it looks frightening.

The mark didn't look too bad tonight and most people couldn't even find it so I might cut my losses and not try anything else.

I have a fear that I'll try and get the remainder out and leave some sort of tide mark.

I'll try the ideas on another piece of cloth. I may video it for your amusement when it comes!

haha , lol , you could say that !!

I hope you get sorted it out, anyway.
and looking forward to see the vid.

Another note (which is off the topic).

Have you ever heard of this stuff ( Liquid Glass Shield ) ???
first time i see it, tbh. If this works, would be a great idea for the club owners, imo.
or anyone with his own table , for that matter.

This stuff only works when first applied , with brushing and ironing you remove it and then it is not going to work , it was designed for sofas and chairs not snooker or pool tables , you do not brush and iron chairs and sofas every 10 hours of use .
they sold a lot of this off the strength of this video , but I know a couple of clubs that where not impressed when they tried to demonstrate it for customers after a couple of weeks of brushing and ironing it had practically been removed from the cloth , and it is not low priced fitters use Acetone for cleaning stains out of cloth , the same as a dry cleaner would do for a suit if that had a stain in it .

And you are placing a barrier between ball and cloth , the idea of napped wool based cloth is cue screw back and swerve control on the ball which uses the direct contact and grip of the natural wool napped cloth , with this stuff on, the balls skid and kick all over the place .

I can see why it sold a lot of the video, very impressive as a promotion.

Well, than it's not very useful after all .

                      Many thanks for info .

I've never used it , btw . I just saw it on internet .
