  • Handy pay day for table-topper Walker

DARRYN Walker pocketed £850 of the £2,100 prize money for winning the second leg of the English Ranking Series.

The Wolverhampton wonder now leads two tours run by the English Association of Snooker & Billiards.

Already the rankings leader on the Midlands section of the English Masters Tour after winning both of the tournaments he has entered, he now tops the English Ranking Series after the two-day event at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester.

Walker, the last man standing from a 55-strong field, defeated Nick Jennings (Southampton), who had to settle for £400, 4-3 in the final.

Ryan Causton (Shoeburyness, Essex) collected the £50 high-break prize for a 124 in his first-round victory over Matthew Glasby (Southend).

The third leg of six is at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester, on the weekend of November 14-15.
