  • Using The Rest

So is it just me or is it very hard to hit through the cue ball straight with a rest and always ends up putting aload of unwanted side on and missing easy pots.

Like a normal shot do you need a certain stance and grip for the rest?

Anyways any advice on how to perfekt rest shots

the best advice is to watch the way professionals use the rest on the tv

paying attention to, approach of table
distance from cue ball of rest head (depending on type of shot)
feathering, and the angle of the cue arm
    stroke (and hand grip)

do this, and try to copy it as best you can.

also, watch the best players at your local club, and ask them.

get someone whos considerably better than you to watch you play some rest shots, as its often easier to notice errors by watching, than it is to realise them by your own play

failing that, use the big cue thats on the hooks at the side of the table.

Cessy74, youre good at the game, with a high break of 74 i reckon advice on the game from your good self would benefit those on this forum who, like you, gained their highest break on the playstation2

                      Me bite ? Never !

All good fun Sem. Some folk would be over the moon with a high break of 74, you included.

                      Not me though

..considering i play about 24 hours of snooker a year, i think id OWN the moon if i was able to make a 74 break.

I think the best thing you could do is to ask a friend to film you while you're playing. I've learned loads from this method.

Yeah this one man who everyone says could of easily made it pro when younger but lost out on getting a sponsor to this man named Mark Devon if anyones heard of him. Anyways he always gives me tips and films me and points out my errors.

Mark died this year of a drug overdose, he could of been in the top 32 easy everyone says but he was always a junkie.

                              R.I.P
