  • Free Ball

    Hello!

I wonder to know if a free ball should be nominated in a case where a ball "on" is obstructed by a cushion (so I cannot fully "see" one of its sides).

    Thanks!

    Section 2 Rule 16:

    (e) The cue-ball cannot be snookered by a cushion. If the curved face of a cushion obstructs the cue-ball and is closer to the cue-ball than any obstructing ball not on, the cue-ball is not snookered.

So even though you cannot fully see/hit both sides because the cushion is in the way, you can't have a free ball.

So which means if it is snookered at the "Jaw" of the pocket and unable to directly hit the ball on (left only 1 choice, eg, color or only 1 red), it is still not considered a snooker, thus no free ball?

          A) You need to be snookered to only start taking a FreeBall into consideration...
          B) A cushion/jaw CANNOT snooker you. STILL NOT, nothing has changed since three posts ago...
