  • Here is my video from this morning. Two misses both to middle pockets. Still need work on them, my middle pockets are quite tight so that does not make it any easier. Positional play I feel is coming along.

I know that routine is quite deceptive but you should of really cleared this in the last week Les

Oh well I tried but I am happy with the way things are going right now. I will give it another go after lunch and see if I can put a total clearance.

        • I dont know why as I don't think it was mentioned but when I tried it ,if I hit another ball it was go over and I reset them. I also couldn't carry on just potting them when I missed , I find that a bit pointless as you have failed the exercise(was this mentioned just to carry on?, can't be humped to go back and read it, if it was never mind)
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

I am not 100% sure but I think I was suppose to continue on and see how many missed before I cleared up with a goal to have less misses the next time. I am sure there was no mention of a ball striking a ball as that would not make any sense if you miss a ball it could possibly hit another. I just watched it back and I thought my positional play was very good.

            • The routine on here was just to carry on and count how many misses. Original routine was taken from the Ding app and it says reset if you hit another ball. I tend to reset as well on any of these sorts of routines if I cannon another ball.

Ah that's where I've got myself confused, I first did this off the Ding App, fair enough if the routine was just to carry on.

Not looking like anymore videos from me. Been at it for an hour and I keep missing the slight angles on the side pockets. Any answers? I just miss the near jaw and it hits the far jaw and comes back at me or I just graze the near jaw and it lips out. Now if I was at TD I could ram them in.

Just got to get used to how your table plays Les, you play everyday on there so you should be learning the best angles to go at. We all have our favourite tables that we can read better than others. I find pots in to middle pockets are easier if you try play with a smoother cueing action and just use enough pace to get pot and position, no need to hit the ball hard on a quick table.

                    • Move the two outer rows in a couple of inches, this isn't rocket science.

That's what I am working on now. Middle pockets from many angles. No sense of frustrating myself with a challenge that I cannot complete. I have to watch these Challenges. I over did it today as I start to get frustrated and then a cannot make a thing. All in all about three hours spent in the challenge. I will come back to it in a couple days. For now I will work on the middle pickets, play some matches against myself and wait for the next challenge.

LOL never thought of that. I had them centered from Center ball to cushion. I will try that next time.

                          • i didn't know you had a little cue room set up les, is that a stair well in the way? any chance of knocking that wall back a bit? you'll need to when you can comfortably open up on the shot, after the titanium elbow comes through

Yea really. I never thought when I built this house 3 years ago that I would be a Snooker nut. I built it for a 4-1/2 x 9 or 5x10. Just shy by about 6" both sides. The only time you need my special B & W 54" cue that TD fit for me is a dead straight shot on the rail. Actually a very nice cue.

                              • Les dont forget about other routines. It is good to give all of them time when you practise. Just do it in blocks one afer another. After a while you will be able to squizee all of them in as you will take less time to do well or complete at higher rate. Since I started them I knock 20 - 30 regular in matches. Since I started to do the black routine I am surprised to miss a black of the spot rather than hope for it to go in. Dont forget about all balls spread for a warmup - any miss take two out and try to clear, 15 reds and lineup too. Do some practice spreads to knock a high brake, it helps for confidence if you can knock a 50 odd it helps knowing you can do it. Cheers
