  • “Shocked” James claims first tournament win

NATHAN James admitted he was “shocked” to beat the EASB Regional Junior Tour Midlands champion and register a first tournament win on the under-21 circuit.

The 15-year-old - who recently moved to Kirkham, Lancs, from Suffolk - accounted for Cannock-based Riley Parsons 2-0 in the final of the sixth and last leg at Pockets Snooker Club, Kidderminster.

“I was shocked to beat Riley because of how good a player he can be amongst the balls,” said James.

Despite missing the first two legs, the teenager finished his third season on the junior tour in sixth place.

The number-one spot was settled in a semi-final clash between the top two when Parsons saw off Leicester lad Chae Ross 2-1.
