    LEE Roling climbed to second place on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour after collecting the winner’s trophy in the sixth leg at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.

    The 19-year-old, based at The Academy in Eastleigh, accounted for Daniel Tallentire (Westbury) 3-2 in final.

    Roling, who also won event two in Swindon in November, is just 16 points behind competition favourite Jordan Winbourne (Chandler’s Ford SC) with one event to play in Salisbury next month.

    Tallentire, beaten 3-0 by Lee Roling in round-robin Group A, saw off Group B winner Kevin Impett 3-2 in the last-four.

    In the second semi, Roling edged out Eastleigh club-mate Ben Tanner - also by the odd frame in five.

    The seventh and final event of the series is at Salisbury Snooker Club on Sunday, May 9. Cuestars director John Hunter has announced that the Under-21 tournament which was cancelled in January because of the snow will not be re-arranged.

    GOLD RESULTS:

    ROUND-ROBIN GROUP A: 1st, Lee Roling (The Academy, Eastleigh); 2nd, Daniel Tallentire (Westbury); 3rd, Daniel Woods (Chandler’s Ford); 4th, Adam Swift (The Academy, Eastleigh).

    ROUND-ROBIN GROUP B: 1st, Kevin Impett (Chandler’s Ford); 2nd, Ben Tanner (The Academy, Eastleigh); 3rd, Eddie Van Damme (Westgate SC, Gloucester).

    SEMI-FINALS (12 points): Roling beat Tanner 3-2, Tallentire beat Impett 3-2.

    FINAL (25/18 points): Roling beat Tallentire 3-2.

    Burnet takes pole position


    LIAM Burnet stormed to the top of the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Silver Tour after clinching a first tournament win of the season at Jesters SC, Swindon.

    The 15-year-old from The Academy, Eastleigh, disposed of Westbury’s Daniel Winfield 3-1 in the final.

    The result moved Burnet ahead of long-term leader and club-mate Lee Bell, who drops to third with one tournament left.

    Group A winner Lee Warner, from Stoke SC, Gosport, lost 3-2 to Winfield in the last-four and remains second, albeit just one point below Burnet.

    Bournemouth’s Bradley Chappell, who topped Group B, went out 3-1 to Burnet in the second semi.

    The seventh and final tournament in the series is at Salisbury Snooker Club on Sunday, May 9.

    SILVER RESULTS:

    ROUND-ROBIN GROUP A: 1st, Lee Warner (Stoke SC, Gosport); 2nd, Liam Burnet (The Academy, Eastleigh); 3rd, Jamie Perry (Jesters, Swindon); 4th, Matt Geer (The Academy, Eastleigh); 5th, Paul Ives (Labour Club, High Wycombe).

    ROUND-ROBIN GROUP B: 1st, Bradley Chappell (Green Baize, Bournemouth); 2nd, Daniel Winfield (Player’s, Westbury); 3rd, Lee Bell (The Academy, Eastleigh); 4th, Sam Jefferson (Jesters, Swindon).

    SEMI-FINALS (12 points): Winfield beat Warner 3-2, Burnet beat Chappell 3-1.

    FINAL (25/18 points): Burnet beat Winfield 3-1.

    Joe over the Moon


    SWINDON’S Joe Moon took advantage of home tables at Jesters to pick up a first tournament win on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Bronze Tour.

    Moon climbed to second in the rankings after seeing off Group C winner Oliver Parsons, also from Swindon, 3-2 in the final. Parsons jumped two places to third.

    Moon, who dropped just one frame in Group A, chalked up his highest break of 32.

    Swindon’s Jodie Symes compiled a new personal best break of 38.

    Runaway rankings leader Ryan Gavin, from High Wycombe, surprisingly failed to progress from the group stages.

    Group D winner Scott Brady was knocked out in the quarter-finals by Matthew Bellinger.

    Eastleigh’s Bradley Hatch, who topped Group B, went out to Cameron Holt – also in the last-eight.
