  • Pool Cue Suggestions

As the title suggests I would like any recommendations as to what brand of cue to possibly go for as I’m looking at upgrading from my current Powerglide cue. It was originally a 9.5mm tip but I got it tapered down to 8.5mm as at the time I did not want to spend more money on a new cue as I recently got back into playing. Now that I’m playing more often I’d like to invest into a better cue.

I have been looking at Britannia but I’ve read mixed reviews about them. My budget is around the £200 mark. I’d like it to be a 3/4 jointed cue, made from Ash, weight wise 18-19oz as I prefer a heavier cue and tip size 8.5mm

I'm guessing you play English pool, having an 8.5mm tip, currently Custom Cues owned/directed by Ruairi McCarroll make some top class pool cues. If you are happy with a plain ebony butt they start at £250.

They are currently building a new website, but you can make orders / enquiries via FB page. https://www.facebook.com/12985097408...6205255784270/

Old website to get an idea on quality. https://www.customcues.co.uk/

Trouble with Britannia cues is that they cover a wide range of budgets but generally the badge looks the same on a £400 cue or a £125 so its difficult to know exactly what you are buying and this is why opinions on their quality vary so much.

Yes sorry forgot to add I play English 8 ball pool. Thank you for the suggestion I’ll have a look at what they offer. Do you know if they have a shop where I am able to go down and try some of the cues they have already or is it all bespoke and made to order ?

Only shop is in Ballymena NI that I know of (the cue gallery at reds, it's mentioned on the website) but depending where abouts you are this place is well stocked with many specs and some prices in your ball park budget and they have tables onsite to try before you buy. https://greenbaize.com/handmade-cues.html?price=0-250

Stear clear of the cheapest brands on this site, they are starter level cues and Chinese made, go with the Thai brands they are higher quality.
