Bce Riley cue, linseed or beeswax

Well i just finished sanding my cue because the varnish made it get sticky each time i played, searching arround the internet people say just beeswax (which contains linseed oil) will be okay and will finish the cue nicely, can i use this instead of linseed because i cannot get my hands on one of them and personally i think beeswax would be good enough
