Interesting one! I don't think it's an illegal shot as it would be difficult to say it was done on purpose. It's quite a clever play and still takes some skill I guess. I've seen Ronnie use the rules to his advantage in the past, he was in a nasty snooker and missed two escapes he then feathered the cue ball on the next attempt and called a foul on himself after that it couldn't be replaced and miss could not be called again!! Not sure if the rule has changed now to stop that but things like this usually become the reason why rule amendments come about.
I've always thought a deliberate foul is loss of frame. Never seen it though, could be wrong. As you say, almost impossible for the ref to call one. Rule change; if you go in off your opponent can put you back in where you were? I know, can of worms
An interesting shot from Bingham in the first frame when snookered and just one red left. Was that a 'deliberate foul', playing the shot knowing he wouldn't have a miss called on him and played in such a way to make sure he didn't leave Ronnie a chance at a pot? Hendry seemed to subtly suggest so in commentary also.. Seemed to really throw Ronnie off - strange decision to put Bingham in from that position with a simple safety/snooker on
Bingham not used to getting bad running and his head dropped and he went a bit red around the gills quite early in the match, interval came at the right time for him. Wins the first after the break for 5-2, could be a closer one than it looked.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

Stuart bemoaning the fact that Ronnie had the rub of the green ā¦..pot and kettle springs to mind !!
He had more than enough chances to negate the luck that Ronnie had ā¦ā¦.just needs to face facts that he played one of his worse matches for a long time .
