Great clearance from Liang to win that last frame. I left the house just as he came to the table, and commented to someone that 5-4 was looking more likely than 6-3. I'm happy I decided to watch the ending anyway, very enjoyable break.

Ding-Gould could be a good match tonight. It was looking like Ding would pull away at one point, but it now looks like it will be a long night for him. :smile:

It's no wonder to me that the ref in the Trump Liang match irritates O'Sullivan. He's like a human sloth! He also has two very annoying habits which slow up play even more; insisting on cleaning every colour he takes out of the pocket - regardless of how clean it went in - and brushing the nap over the spot before placing the ball.

6-3 is by no means a foregone conclusion but in a first round like we've had so far it's going to be tough for Trump to get back into it. If Trump wins the first session or can get ahead he should win. 10-9 anyone?

I don't like Liang. I think he has a bad attitude and very disrespectful towards his opponent. His 'yes' at the end there is completely uncalled for and showing a lack of respect.

Also he has had a hell of a lot of run in this match and not once has his held his hand up to acknowledge it, I also didn't like his slap on the table earlier and refs are told now to warn players over behaviour like that yet the german ref didn't say a word.

Judd is really up against it here and this match was always a potential banana skin, just sad to see its been more about Liang's run that has decided the outcome so far.

I agree with some of this. His attitude and reactions definitely need to be kept in check. I recall him being like it in the UKC and thinking the same then. To be fair to him I did see him hold a hand up a few times when he fluked position or a snooker and he did call a foul on himself, so he is sportsmanlike to a degree.

Maybe some of it is a cultural thing? There is a huge amount of pressure put onto these players in China and any mistake, no matter how small, is just over-exaggerated and seen as a failure so he just beats himself up, literally at one point.

That all said he's potting balls off the light fixtures so it's a great game to watch giving trick-shot Trump a run for his money.

I don't mind players that show a bit of emotion, they are human beings not robots. As for the 'hand up' etiquette.... well I have to say this rather gets on my nerves in general. I think unless a player is genuinely sorry for a slice of luck why should they bother offering a false apology? It is a meaningless gesture that changes nothing. Occasionally you will see a player have such an outrageous run of the ball that they do genuinely look apologetic or embarrassed, but I don't think that applies in this match.

Liang has played the better snooker so far. Looking at the match stats at the end of the session there the telling one was the safety success - Liang was much higher on this measure and that is why he is in the lead, as despite missing a fair few shots Judd just kept offering him up more and more short to medium range shots to have a crack at.

Snooker players really do take some amount of flak on here, maybe why none of them ever come on. They're either too boring, or interesting but ungentlemanly, or petulant, or they simply aren't Ronnie O'Sullivan.

It's not about the Liang's run here. He was clearly the better player so far. Trump had his share of luck as well. He only got into the break to win Frame 7 via a fluke. And Liang outplayed him in most safety battles.

Also Liang was fair enough two times to show a foul he made that nobody else had seen. Also I saw him gesturing sorry for a lucky ball to Trump at least once.
