you were right daffie, back in 2012 they did have the temp at 50, so either they have turned them down and still getting the bed-cloth to 21-22C for play, or they have improved the heaters themselves and don't need such high heater-temperature to get the same bed-cloth temperature.

Thanks Dean. Interesting to see if the heaters have been turned up today. It may have been an experiment regarding kicks. But clearly it hasn't helped much judging from last night and the past few days.

Selby vs Higgins then...wow what a dream match for me personally, 2 of my very favourite players of all time.

They keep showing the table heater temp gauge of the other table and it indicates 30C. If I remember correctly it should be around 49-50C right? Think MJW just said something about it to the ref...

Hoping Selby v Higgins will be a classic. Too close to call. Bookies have Selby 4/7 and Higgins 11/8. But, I see it a lot closer than that.

Gilbert is number 21 in the world, higher than Brecel who looked far better. How can you tell how the players are going to perform when rankings isn't an absolute measure? Sometimes match get scrappy like that

It wasn't scrappy it was crap, these blokes are pros and do nothing else, no excuses.

BTW, watching Dave Gilbert v Jamie Jones I think Ronnie is spot on, terrible standard and belongs on a pro am tour not a UK championship.

Gilbert is number 21 in the world, higher than Brecel who looked far better. How can you tell how the players are going to perform when rankings isn't an absolute measure? Sometimes match get scrappy like that

They don't make the pockets any smaller on the small tables, not the ones I've played on anyway, ridiculous pockets. What they do do on a lot of smaller American pool tables is make the white bigger so it goes through the mechanism on coin operated tables, don't bother even trying a screw shot.

Ronnie has the kind success that Chris Small hasn't got close to, if Ronnie went to a school in whatever car he now drives he's going to inspire much more enthusiam that the sport can be a career, it's a money orientated world we live in afterall.

They'll have a go, find out how extremely difficult it is and go back to their phones.

Maguire is starting to look a bit p*ssed off out there, he just looks majorly stressful, lots of tension in the game right now

If ever a guy needs a mentor then its him. He has excellent talent, but is temperament is awful and is throwing away his progression and with that money
and especially when the guy is struggling with the taxman.

An entertaining night. All four players got a little nervous towards the end, Williams and Highfield in particular wasted quite a few chances each in their decider.

That fluke was a pretty harsh way for Maguire to lose, but he too had plenty of chances to get over the line in that frame. The one tournament where I drop Brecel from my fantasy team, and here he is in the quarter-finals... Shame on him! :smile:
