To lose both after going so deep (in polite words) would knock the stuffing out of most, and at his age\stature\wealth he probably isn't interested in the lesser stuff.

There was an interesting post match interview with ROS there, where Higgins said that he had fallen out of love with Snooker and agreed with ROS about his cutting down on Comps. For context: Williams didn't qualify for a WC and wanted to quit: got a slap from his wife, practiced and played like he used to for a season and won the WC to show his kids how good he is, and is now back to what he was before.

If he can get his motivation back then he could get another WC, but may need a slap etc to find it.

Lenny Bruce, early Peter Cook, Chris rock and Emo Phillips are pretty much it for stand-ups, while Fawlty Towers and Blackadder (esp the WWI series) were very funny.

We are so selfish as fans of these great players. We sit in our comfortable chairs, watching their brilliance and hope it never ends. When their hard work and dedication has provided enough financial support for them to explore others areas of life, they should grab it with open arms if they want it.

When we see players we have followed along their long careers retire, we see our own mortality and age. ( more clearly than maybe we would like )
