  • Masters '08 - Best Line up Ever?

    Hi all

REALLY looking forward to this one, I think this could be the best line up ever:

    Ronnie vs Maguire
    Ding vs Higgins
    Selby vs Hendry
    Williams vs Doherty

and potentially Robertson vs the great Davis.

And other good matches, im going to say, Higgins, Ding or Maguire to win the tournament, I dont know why but I just have a feeling Maguire will beat Ronnie today...

But oh no!....not AGAIN! - Dott vs Lee, how many times has this pair met!

The most dull match in snooker history.

    Thanks!

Robbo Unbeatable in ranking finals 6 out of 6

I wouldn't consider this match dull, depends on both players' form of course, but neither of them is specifically boring to watch.
Robertson vs. Davis on the other hand, if it really happens, which I doubt, would be a rather one sided affair I guess . I like Steve, but he just misses too much nowadays and his matches are usually not very watchable.
Williams vs. Doherty doesn't strike me as particularly interesting either, I like the players, but they are both struggling, so I don't expect high quality in that one.

I'm REALLY hoping Maguire doesn't get his revenge today. I'm going to the semi final and hoping Ronnie will be there

Didn't Davis win their last meeting, in the Premier league?

Just as a matter of interest, a quick look at the results of the first ever Masters, which was played at the West Centre Hotel, London in 1975.

          First round
John Pulman (Eng) beat Cliff Thorburn (Can) 5-3
Alex Higgins (NI) beat Bill Werbeniuk (Can) 5-0
          Quarter Final
Eddie Charlton (Aus) beat Fred Davis (Eng) 5-3
John Spencer (Eng) beat Pulman 5-3
Ray Reardon (Wal) beat Graham Miles (Eng) 5-3
Rex Williams (Eng) beat Higgins 5-3
          Semi-final
          Spencer beat Charlton 5-2
          Reardon beat Williams 5-4
          Final
