If the etiquette isn't that important, why not just smash the cue ball to the pack from the break-off?

Snooker is about making it difficult for your opponent not handing him frames. No need to smash the pack when there's an easy safety on, ie break off shot.

It would be like poker players always going all in with every hand.

I disagree. Showing emotion is what will attract the viewers. People don't want to see two robots playing snooker. I love it when a player get's annoyed.

Yes showing Emotion is Great but no need to Kick Pockets, Bang Pockets with your Cue or Hit Table with Cue and Worse of all Ali Carter hitting his head with his Cue a few times on the Trot which left a red mark on his Forehead!! It was like someone out of St Davids Mental Hospital which I dont think that is Good for Snooker at all.

Yes I also like them getting Annoyed but dont take it out on the Table or Cue!

I also agree with a few Others here when you have a Fluke or abit of Luck you should hold your hand up we all know they dont mean it but good sportsmanship Which Ali didnt do to Ronnie in the Last Frame tonight which he won by a Fluke! I think that will make Ronnie give Ali more of a Lesson tomorrow as Ronnie was looking on strong at Ali and Ali didnt show anything not a Hand or anything!

think ronnie will be too strong in the long run for ali , with a 3 frame advantage he will be hard to catch. I feel ali will need to try and gather some sort of rhythm early on in the third sesssion and try to just play the balls! i feel ebdon has got him into a mindset of worrying too much about playing the opponent and this is causing slightly negative play on carters behalf which is not really his style!Dont get me wrong you have to sometimes have a game plan when playing o'sullivan especially when he is playing so well but there is nothing ronnie can do sat in his seat if ali is potting balls and feel he is playing well enough to win frames in one visit if he can just play at his natural pace and game.Easy to say sat here i suppose and you could argue his game plan has got him to the final so should he just stick with it?? any thoughts?

There's no need to say "sorry" after a fluke (as you're clearly not 'sorry' anyway), but some form of acknowledgement is a basic courtesy.

It would be a sad day when players stop acknowledging fortune, in my opinion. It is the little things like this which set snooker apart from most vulgar sports.

The only reason these kind of shots aren't played and hit-and-hope shots are very, very rarely played obviously when there is no other choice to play for is the very same etiquette.
I'd love to see it stay the same way.

Well Ronnie turned down shots (nearing multiple actually) in every frame and it was hardly mentioned until late on in the last session? so for me Ronnie has his tactics too.
And why not this is the WC Final glad to see it means so much to them both too many players have just crumbled this year?

Carter does the 'woe is me' routine when something goes against him, but then completely ignores all the lucky nudges and flukes he receives.

I don't like his temperment, and I don't think it can win a match like this. Something doesn't go his way and he becomes an immature boy.

Yeh I agree with this, only just noticed it in Carter this event though.

Carter was pretty lucky to only go three frames down after those two sessions, the amount of mistakes in his positional play was quite astounding.

I agree Carter and Maguire will never be a Top 4/8 Player in my Book due to there Attitude Banging Hand on Table, Banging Cue against Pockets, Kicking Cues, Banging Cue against Chair right out of Order and should have Fine for this at Least! Not good for Youngsters to see this going on Especially not Live on Tv.

Interesting session, not particularly high quality, but not too bad either, especially some of the tactical play. I was disappointed with Carter not playing on for one or two snookers a couple of times. He battled so hard to reach the World final, and now he is not going to fight to the end for every frame?

Still, he limited his losses pretty well in the end. But O'Sullivan remains a fairly strong favourite.
