    He went on to be one of the all time great, thanks "sportsman's glasses". Without them he'd never have won a thing.

                  Personally I think it's Joe Davis, the picture looks about his time.

                        The answer IS the late, great Fred Davis O.B.E., before he began using his famous "sportsman's glasses", with the swivel lenses. I suspect this picture would have been taken in the early 1930's.
