  • Rasson magnum 2 table

    Hello all,

So I'm currently in the process of building my snooker room. Exciting times!

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of playing on the Rasson Magnum 2 table?

In an ideal world I'd love to be able to get myself a Star table, but unfortunately they're just way too expensive. I don't want a used star table either, which would be cheaper. I want a brand new one, so Rasson seem like the best bet.

That said, if the response I get here is not great, then I may have to go for an old star table. Not something I'm keen on if I'm honest. Also I'm not keen on the ultra tight pockets that the star table has, so am really hoping the Rasson is as good, if not better, than the star.

Would really appreciate some people's views.

    Thanks.

Star & Rasson tables are used by WST because of their “pop up” characteristics I.e easy and quick for tourneys and they play well for those short periods of time, however they are built with inferior wood and materials and dont stand the test of time very well, for instance, the legs are painted gold because they are made from highly compressed chip wood, these crack over time and cause levelling issues.

Old solid oak and mahogany tables like a Riley Aristocrat or a Karnhem & Hillman table will easily stand the test of time for decades and if you can offset the lower cost of an old table and spend extra on an experienced fitter, using northern rubber and good pocket templates will make that table as good as any Star but for longer.

          Cue crafty
          Thanks for the detailed response.

The Wrileys aristocrat table is a nice table, my only issue is that it doesn't have the under table heating which is an absolute must for me. If this is possible to fit on an aristocrat, then that's one hurdle crossed, the second would be the cost.

Are you saying that a Rasson will only be good for a few months and that's it? Sounds a bit extreme for table costing 12k I would've thought?

I have several Riley Aristocrat steel block tables available. And yes undertable heaters are available. Hotwire by Justin Greatrix. Send me a private message and I can send pictures of recent installations.

Don’t get a Rasson, awful tables and as has been said will not stay level. Also, pros play on these with perfect match conditions all the time and cloths that never get more than a week old.
i have played on both Star and Rasson with 6 months old cloths and it’s not an enjoyable experience.
                  Refurbished Riley for me.
