After reading you comments I will try to play without a glove tomorrow The fact is that I have changed playing style also For the past 4 weeks my cueing has been great and I feel that I cue much straighter now and that may not depend on the glove

why? will he mince round the table and scratch my eyes out?
Possibly the most accurate and funniest post ive seen for a while
Viktortheman, im glad you've now seen the light. Wearing a glove is the snooker equivalent of turning up to a boxing match wearing high heels! EVEN denden and his pouch arent quite that gay

it always feels better with your bare hand rather than with a glove - have you ever heard someone say that it feels better doing it when wearing a glad-bag?
Vik,
I play in a glove and it DOES help there was a pro fom Bedford in the UK who played in a glove too! He did get to the crucible a couple of times but no further than the 1st round. SO iifit helps wear it!! Cheers Steve

That'll be Nigel Gilbert.. saw him play a few frames last week with the same glove probably!
For about two months ago I bought a snooker/pool glove. I thought it was just a funny thing to do but after playing with the glove a realised that it was much better to play with it I feel that the cue goes through my bridge in a better way than playing on my bare skin. What is your opinions about playing with a glove? Do you feel that it is better/worse to play with a glove?
Definitely worse playing with a glove. I find it takes away a little bit of 'feel' that you need on every shot you make. Why is this important? Well I guess your mind and body need the feedback from each shot you make in order to make adjustments for the next one...a glove is a barrier between body and cue and therefore takes away a little bit of that vital link between cue and body. Also, just the appearance of a glove adjacent on the sight of aim can be a little distracting for me.
Just my opinion anyway. Having said that, I keep a glove handy for the odd occasion when I'm playing in a tournament and the conditions are very humid. Sometimes you get these situations where cue glide becomes an issue, no matter how much towel drying, hand washing you do.
If cue glide is a problem, I recommend washing your hands with cold soapy water after each frame. Dry them thoroughly. Clean your cue with a damp cloth dipped in warm soapy water regularly. Dry it thoroughly. On the morning of the tournament, apply a bit of silicone spray to the shaft of the cue. You won't need a glove.
It was a while since I replied on my thread but I want to let you know that I have stopped playing snooker with a glove. The reason for it as a lot of you guys have mention is that I don't get the "feel" when I'm playing with a glove. I feel that I have more control when playing without the glove. So from now on, I'm playing on my bare skin

When I was playing regular I used to have a snooker cloth and rub johsons talcum powder in it . Then now and again rub the cloth over the shaft . lovely feeling . that was with a maple cue .
Even in Germany - where everyone is playing american pool - it is considered as gay.
And i have to say, there is absolutely no reason at all to use a glove if you are playing with a cue made out of wood. The only reason to use a glove is using a Cuetec fiberglass coated pool cue.

Leave the gloves to the posers.

I used talc for a while but found it too messy.
Try the silicone spray. The effect lasts longer too.
