Terry Griffiths kept his first round record going in remarkable fashion in 1996, when after being down 0-6 and 5-9 he made a recovery to 9-9 against Jamie Burnett. Burnett then had seemingly won the match on the green and clearing up he potted the brown too, only to over screw after the pot in trying to get position on the blue potting the cue ball in the middle pocket (he hadn't even needed the blue). The brown came back out and Griffiths potted brown to black to win in the most dramatic way.
The following year 1997, if I remember correctly, he qualified but lost on the final black 10-9 to Mark Williams. That may have been his last professional match.
