I must admit to turning off the World final this afternoon. I was sickened by the dreadful play I was witnessing. Ali Carter is the worst finalist ever and O'Sullivan is also terrible. What a shameful advert for snooker this is. I am embarrassed for sponsors, the audience, everyone connected with it. O'Sullivan has beaten the weakest field ever. Rubbish!

Weak yes, by the standards of a world final, but not the weakest ever. It is the least interesting that I can recall though. It's not good enough to be an exhibition (2004) and not close enough to be a match (2006). An anticlimax to what has been a brilliant championship.
Unfortunately there isn't really time for Ronnie to demonstrate the kind of snooker we know he's capable of, and it'll be Ronnie himself who's most disappointed by that. My only hope for this evening is that Carter can do himself justice and at least make Ronnie play to win it.

On the table and in the mind Ali lost before the first ball was potted."And I'd give him my right arm to have his cue action - poetry in motion."

The 2006 final might well have been a struggle, but it was interesting nonetheless.

You've got to just call a spade a spade, Ali is in his first ranking final and playing the world number 1, he was always going to struggle a great deal. He's done amazing well to get this far so well done to him, he's got quite a pay day!Alex Higgins "If I knew you were comin I'd have baked a cake, baked a cake, baked a cake"

I dont think it's the worst final ever, i just think it's lacked excitement, drama, and tension that most Final's usually have. i think this is the reason why. It certainly wont be remembered as a classic but it's NO way the worst! O Sullivan's played only as well as he's needed to at times as Carter has put up little resistance for most of the final!"Statistics won't tell you much about me. I play for love, not records."
