Away from the Crucible he pulled off an astonishing comeback against Ebdon in the 2001 UK QF from 4-8 down to win 9-8. And also at this season's Grand Prix he was 2-5 down to Shaun Murphy in the semi and won 6-5. There was also the 2004 Welsh Open final when he was down 5-8 to Steve Davis to win 9-8. The most extraordinary comeback though was in a match he eventually lost: in the 1997 Victoria Charity Challenge he was 2-8 down to a seemingly invincible Hednry in the final, with Hendry just needing one more frame to win. Ronnie recovered to level the match at 8-8 and never got a shot in the decider as Hendry knocked in a maximum. An unbelievable performance from both players. In short Ronnie is a great pressure player, and the only thing he lacks sometimes is patience - I've never seen him bottle it.

Every time he gets put under servere pressure he either puts a towel on his head, quits or loses focus.

Also the 2006 Masters final, where he blitzed Higggins for 3 frames only for John to rally and win the next five. I think you all remember how that final unfolded, because it was one of the most beautiful ever.
And returning to Crucible, Ronnie was 0-5 down to Dott in 2004 and managed to level and eventually lead, as well.
            A bottler he's not.

That was once at the UK Championship against a fired up Mark King. King is the bogey man and he was too determined that day. Ronnie either does really well at this tournament or really badly

He is a bottler. For 3 years in a row he collapsed like a cheap tent at The Crucible. Final session against Ebbo in '05, 3rd session against Dott in '06, and 2nd session against Higgins in '07. Big time bottler.

He does tend to crack like a cheap vase at the crucial moments. Would you say he cracked in the Liverpool Victoria tournament in 97 against Hendry, maybe if he played his safety abit better he would have won, he did have all the momentum at the time.

                    • By the same logic, Hendry is a bottler for losing 0-8 in one session against Ronnie this year, and for folding 10-34 over two semis against him. You gotta look at the bigger picture I think.

Every snooker player as a good and bad time playing this game thats why its great to watch, and the reason why we all like to play it. If you play or watch you know that something will happen that you have not seen before. There has never been two frames of snooker the same ever, any time any place. :snooker:

Hendry is far too old now. The only reason he made the semis is because the standard is so bad today.

                          • Yes and an in form Hendry probably would have been to strong for the field this year.

I don't believe that he is too old or that the standard is bad ,it's just that the younger players have less of a reputation for winning so much
