  • Ssb - lisowski hits the jack-pot

Congratulations to Jack Lisowski who has won the English Amateur Championship, snooker's oldest title, two years after being diagnosed with cancer.

Jack, 18, has thankfully overcome Hodgkins Lymphoma and can now look forward to the start of his professional career.

He was already guaranteed a place on the main tour after winning two events on the Pontin's International Open Series to finish top of the rankings in the season just finished.

And he rubberstamped his promotion by beating Leo Fernandez 9-2 in the English amateur final at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.

Lisowski follows in the footsteps of previous winners including Ray Reardon, John Spencer, Terry Griffiths, Jimmy White, Nigel Bond, Stephen Lee and Stuart Bingham in a tournament first staged in 1916.

Good luck to him on the pro tour.

    Great News!
Awhile ago Monique was speaking of how good Jack really is
so I very much look forward to seeing him play someday soon.
Say, Mon, if you reading this maybe you could put some of
your excellent photos of Lisowski, or links to them?
Lots of people will be as impressed as I was!

It has been a very successful season for Lisowski. Well done and good luck to the main tour! It's a different ball game there but let's see how he does, I hope him all the best.

Absolutely on the main tour theres seasoned players that just stops talent with cagey intelligent play..

just look at Daniel Wells how hard hes found it.

but snooker needs the likes of jack to come through and show what they made of between the ears.

Did anyone look at all of Monique photos? http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...&id=1066660939
Do you have a thing for Ricky Walden? Monique.
Or is it just me that thinks you have slightly more photos of him, than just about any other player lol
Should have said some great photos in there. Do you cover every tournament? If so what a wonderful job need a slightly older apprentice lol?
