    ferret:

I've had about 7 or 8 Aurora cues, maybe a few more, but I've never met Airin or Richard. I've chatted with both of them through emails and that was mostly with 'Airin'. It would have to be someone from Vancouver I would guess as Airin told me once that he did play snooker in one of the local clubs in Richmond, BC which is a part of Greater Vancouver.

Never had a problem with orders or money with either of them. Cues were always of good quality and they stood behind their product when I did get a crack in a snakewood splice once and fixed it for free, paying postage both ways.

I receive a cue i purchase from Airin on march , but it was cracked . Airin asked me to send it back to him along with the previous cue i purchase from him that i think the taper is too thick and he will retaper it for me. So i send both cues in a Aurora metal case to him. I have receive email from Richard saying that my cue is going to be ready soon, he will take picture of the cue to show me and it will be dispatch next week on Aug 9, no news since . Paid him by bank transfer. Both cues and case total worth of 1555gbp

I brought 4 cues from Richard still have 3. Met Richard more than 30 times. Never met Airin though.
I also help my friends brought more than 10 cues from him.
What do you want to know?

First cue de lo rosewood I got cracked under badge, I returned it and he put some vanish finished on and sold it to other customer.

Second cue is snake/burr front splice . Never cracked

Third is a snake burr 12 splices cue snake wood cracked twice. I never used the cue. First time he fixed for me for free second charged me 70.

I also have a snake wood maple cue from him also cracked.

Most of my friend's cue cracked.

I have about 30 cues from different makers. Never had such problems.

I had really nice impression about him first times but the longer I know him I found he doesn't know what he is doing.

He always sound so helpful but most time he is misleading.

He also sent me emails to making fun others people. He always making fun about Deroo cues and Kevin.

If someone brought a deroo cue he always say the buyer doesn't know anything about cues.

I gave him my brand new green plate cue to ask him put more grain filler to fill up the ebony part. God know what he had done to make my veneers turned yellow.
I know so much lies he told other customers and have all email and evidence to back up what I said .

I had a cue from Airin. Lovely cue. Had a slight issue with the butt varnish 'flaking' - Airin was very keen to rectify himself, paying for shipping both ways, however I did not want to wait so got a UK cuemaker to refinish the cue - Airin paid for this, no questions asked.

Always very quick to reply, prior to all the allegations/innuendos I would have been very happy to recommend them to any prospective buyer.

I have never meet any of this 2 guys but i have sure order cue from them but yet to deliver, its been almost a year and i paid a deposit of 250 pound for it. Below is what he have quoted and agree during last year July 03rd 2011.

              Hi Nelson,
May I ask what kind of case are you looking for? I do not have any more leather cases now. But i have some very nice cases made with a PVC-leather ramant mixture, which is really durable but cost much less. They feature the same brass hardware used on Stamford cases, and are really well built with a real suede interior.
There are two styles to choose from, one is a black and white smooth skin, and the other is a black and brown ostrich print.
              It is 100 GBP each.
If you want to buy this case, the total is:
              1. Cue 300 GBP
              2. Case 100 GBP
              3. Extensions 60 GBP
              4. Chalk pouch x2 20 GBP
              5. 6 tips 48 GBP
              6. Postage 40 GBP
              Total 568 GBP.
I can offer you the whole package including postage for 500 GBP which is my best price.
              Thank you very much.
              Regards,
              Airin

              Another post which accepted payment comment by him below;

              Hi Nelson,
              Thank you very much.
I hereby confirm receipt of 240.05 GBP as downpayment from you for the cue and other accessories that we have discussed and agreed.
Below is a copy of the payment from Paypal.
              Thank you so very much.
              Regards,
              Airin

I try some of Aurora cues, both ash and maple cue. I think he makes good in splice and design, not make a good cue.
Compare with Hunt & O'byrne, Trevor, Stamford, Osborne, John...etc.. Aurora just like O'min.

Bought one recently on ebay, described as brand new . When received it was the same as £30 vanished cue with a massive crack between the splices and crack just under the badge logo. Seller accepted back and issued full refund via ebay.

Warning!!! rubbish cue, very poor quality and lacquered vanish finish.I cant believe i paid 620 for this cue with 2 extensions! very lucky man to have my money back. Seller claimed that cue was new but it looks like 2-3 years old. Be careful it maybe go back on ebay soon.
Stay away from this cues the quality of the wood is a joke.

Richard will trade some customers very nicely. These people usually well known or can bring him more orders .
So sure these people will not have a problem with him.

He use these people to build up his reputation and sales.

Heis trying to copy Deroo's finish but he can't afford the equipment to do such finish so the finish on Aurora cues looks very cheap and mess made compared to Deroo. I you ever buy a Deroo you will know what I am talking about.

I gave one of my mike Woodbridge cue I got from eBay to him ask him to refinish it. However , he changed my cue's taper without asking me. He think his taper is better. But it is rubbish thin he took down the taper under tip . But after he done that cue became wippy and hits strange. I have to pay some one else and short the cue to fix it. I asked him he said he never did.

Many years ago he was making pool break cues and one of my friend give him a pool cue shaft to put a tip on , but he said he breaker the shaft. He didn't want to buy a new one for my friend . My friend was pissed off then Richard brought a cheap one from eBay and gave to him. He did that because my friend know the restround where he works Before and people from local can always find him by some way. But for online business some buyer might not be lucky .

paid Airin 360 Canadian for ordering his leather case on 11th June 2011 in full, but the case is not delivered till now and Airin agreed to either refund me or do me a custom cue as a sercurity deposit, so I decided to make a custom cue with this deposit. Later in December 2011, I ordered another cue and paid another 200 Canadian for deposit, so there are 560 Canadian in total. I have brought 3 cues from Airin before that, all without any problem, and they are all great cues.

                          Hi all,
                          Just checked their twitter.
If you have had some concerns, I suggest you might want to leave it a while.
I'm afraid Airin passed away not so long ago.

they must have buried him in the garden because i can't find any evidence of a death, no obituaries no death notices and according to the canadian goverment nobody called airin has died in canada in the last 5 years. you see some countries you might be able to hide this but canada is very up to date with everything online and a lot of people doing genealogy checks.
