Jim Black Cues - The Northy part of Ireland

    Anyways here's a couple o' customer cues I finished just before Christmas.
    This one is a bit different in that the shaft was Birdseye Maple with the figuring running the fully length of the cue, photos don't really do it justice, viewed physically the Birdeyes are very 3D and look like water drops on the wood.







    And this one is a blend of Ebony and Pale Moon Ebony.





    Currently working on Fred's.

    Both lovely but the top one is extra nice

    • Love the pale moon ebony, is it as tough as traditional ebony, light woods generally being softer?

        It is very tough but can be more volatile than standard ebony, extra sharp hand-planes are a must.

                • My new cue arrived today and I have to say it looks fantastic, Jim is a top class craftsman. The finish is silky smooth and the cue feels so solid, going to smash a few balls about with it tonight. I'll do some pics if i'm not too drunk.

                    • Glad it arrived safely, i was slightly worried when I saw the courier decided to go the long way round to add another 24hrs to the delivery doh!

                            • Another member on here recommend jim to myself but his back order is until next year at least so you'll be waiting a while I'm afraid I'm gonna take the abben reddy route
