I was so surprised to see Hallett coming back to the table, 72 down and 35 remaining in the first frame that I thought "what kind of p**** would try to steal a frame requiring 10 snookers?" Then I realized the format was based on points instead of frames. I think it would be lovely to have a new ranking event played over points rather than a classic best-of-X-frames format.

Hendry 1997 to 2004was still playing far too brilliantly and far too successful to have suffered from the yips ever since 1996 ended.

I cant stop watching this thread - makes me want a game here is another young Hendry having a maximum.

I also found this which made me laugh in places, especially the dentist bit, what was all that about?

Forgot he used to fly around the table like Ronnie.

Much different action back then far less considered and more free. He defiantly got though the ball better when he was younger
Ronnie usually quotes Stephen as his alltime #1, though i do wish we could get them playing each other in their prime.... What a match that would've been... :snooker:

It's how attacking he was, the first frame on this thread against Mike Hallet, he makes a forty break and it seems every second shot he's trying to open the pack, he even tries a couple of times to split the blue and pink, he was just desperate to clear the table, it must have been frightening to play against.
Sorry wrong thread lol, the Hallet match is on the other Hendry thread, it's very late.

Is it just me that thinks that 40 break is awful lol??

He's never on a ball. What a mess of a break.

You can really see the confidence of Hendry in the first clip, he plays almost care free. He has such high self belief.

His self belief could be easily seen and he
always came to the table wanting to pot
every ball. He was an offensive machine.
