I couldn't believe that he'd risk making such a change mid match. I presume this Praram cue came with a titanium ferrule so to make a change and knowing it will throw differently given he's practiced with it for the past couple of months is a major gamble. It could be this cue doesn't feel right at all. Why would you do this in the middle of a world semi final?

Ronnie has had a lot of cues down the years but nearly all of his major success came with Parris cues. I guess he just has more belief using his than another brand. We are all guilty of brand bias and a snooker player is no different.
Agreed. And I'm sure there is some regret for cracking that good cue into a few pieces.

Get lost. Let's for a Xintong v Trump final so we can get rid of these over-rated pensioners once and for all.
The media made it up that snooker is a young mans game just because Hendry stopped winning at 30.

The class of 92 definitely benefitted from experience in the conditions over the years.

I mean what was so special about the Norbreck Hotel in Blackpool in the early 90s ?

All the Norbreck qualifiers including said class of 92 benefitted from entering a much softer easier tour.

This media guff could drag on for ages yet unless the game is opened up.

I'm hoping for Ronnie & Mark final that goes to a deciding frame.
Yup, over-rated pensioners. Williams can barely see.

Ronnie v Mark would be the worst possible outcome.

Still competing and winning with it. Maybe call it "club mentality" when a good player, plays people who don't want a start , make their own starts up for them IE miss a few to make it interesting
. iF ! In his mind he's doing this, what a powerful mindset that could provide at these stages of a WC. ?!?!? Is he that good.... I guess we'll see...

They're not of pensioner age and they're certainly not over-rated but let's not let minor facts like that get in the way!

                  • Watching frame 1 between Judd and Mark and when Mark jumped up to jokingly encourage the red to drop which finished near a pocket John Virgo said if it had dropped it would have been replaced. What did John mean by that? If the red had dropped would the ref and placed the red where it was over the pocket and called a foul on Mark?

I'm guessing John Virgo was referring to a delay between a ball dropping but Mark was still at the table so am not sure what he meant by 'if the red had dropped it would have been replaced'.

I think with him feeling inferior in his game right now, having an excuse of the cue is a way for him to accept failure should he not win. I think it's been his way of dealing with losses throughout his career, whether it be his long standing issue of tips and now this cue. Whenever he's not living up to his own exacting standards, rather than admit form comes and goes, hes always looking for an an excuse.

He's never been bullish about his chances but given how he lives on the practice table, so determined is he to win, it's the only explanation I can come up with.

Lot of truth in that, IMO.

It fits in with him talking himself down, I mean how can he possibly win with so much against him, winning with so much against him obviously gives him a buzz, imagine how good he would be if he had a cue action
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

I actually made my above post before reading this so I’m glad someone else sees this as well

It's not trolling. We've known snooker can play to a high standard in your 40s and 50s and still result in getting to finals for at least 40 years - Reardon did it in 1985 at the age of 49. I'm sick of having the Class of 92 rammed down my throat as if they're some kind of miraculous unprecedented exception. As long as you're eyesight is ok and your able to walk round a table you can play snooker at any age.
