Because of the astigmatism the lenses needed to be put in a perfectly aligned orientation. There were marks at the bottom and left and right marks, which I couldn't see. They were supposed to be weighted so if you didn't quite get it right they would gradually work into the right orientation. However, never worked for me, and if they weren't aligned perfectly everything looked to be on a slant They were not good for most things, but terrible for snooker. So bottom line, it probably depends to some degree on what correction or problem you have
I use CooperVision MyDay daily disposable toric lenses for astigmatism, lenses specs, sphere or power -2.00, cylinder - 2.25, base curve 8.6, axis 180, diameter 14.5.

My last eye test 18 months ago the astigmatism is slightly worse than the above but this is the spec that i've been using for about the past fifteen years and it's still very good for me.

I don't wear them that much, snooker being one of the times i actually do and i don't normally wear them for more than 4 hours a day.

Reading small print my naked eye is actually better as i'm short sighted, if i can't read something small with the lenses in i can just slip the lens down to read the print, never actually needed to do that though.

I've been wearing contacts since the early 90s, they take quite a lot of getting used to, also different brands have an affect, a particular brand works perfectly for me, most other brands dont. If that was me i'd try around with different lenses brands and practice more getting them in and out before i'd subject my eyes to surgery.

I'm really looking forward to a Zhao Xingtong - Wu Yize rivalry, something like Alex Higgins - Steve Davis but without the nastiness. Of course Trump and co still have a big say but the future is china, not just for snooker, and the rest of the world need to take notice.

So we had three new world champions within the last three years. That's the same amount as between 2011 and 2022. I'll be curious if Zhao will cement himself among the top players. A few years ago he wasn't the one whom I had picked to become the first chinese World Champion. But his all-around game has become better as well and he played strong safeties.
On the other hand recent development of the game has sadly shown that it has become more about potting anyways. The tables have become more generous, so that surely will help Zhao.

Honestly, it's crazy that I can play at all, but if there's decent lighting, I do OK.

Wouldn't know the foggiest about that, touchwood.

My brother in law had eye laser surgery in the late 80s and has never looked back, i'll always naturally be close to a computer/tablet/android screen of some sort so i'm not that bothered about good unaided sight as long as glasses and lenses still work.
