I think it is a bit early to say. The stats aren't particularly impressive for either so far - pot success in the 80s%. But I would agree Williams is definitely struggling a bit more, over hitting and under hitting shots. He will have to up his game because Ding looks the shaper of the two and you get the feeling he will start to make it count in the next session.

Why have i lost complete interest in the world now that ronnie has gone out? Is there something badly wrong with me? Dunno how he lost, christ the amount of scrappy frames hawkins drew him into, talk about boring players, cant blame a guy for not watching now. Sickened.

Does Virgo ever stop criticising? It is almost like he wants the player to miss as punishment if they run slightly out of position. So so negative

And yes, I have read and seen all there is on the subject. That is my personal opinion and my last word because I realise other people feel differently and that's fine by me. Each to his own.

I think Hawkins may have played his final, if Fu plays first round standard( big if) I'm not sure what Hawkins will have in the tank, not my favourite players but for me the most intriguing match.

Williams with a new tip on and seems to be struggling with his cueball control a few times, things just seem to be working out well for Ding this year, almost like its destiny that after being written off due to playing in the qualifiers, he goes on to win it.

Selby bossing the safety battles against Wilson. Certainly controlling the pace of the game and making Wilson really think about things. Looking like both matches could well be more one sided than predicted.

    Indeed...well said.

A Higgins Selby Final though would be beautiful...my dream final :snooker:

Mark isn't looking very sharp this morning is he? A couple of poor positional shots but more concerning is the poor safety so far.... it was the excellent safety that won him the game against Holt IMO. I hope the new tip isn't affecting him too much.

Well Ding already looks a lot more dangerous than he did against Judd. I'm going to be sick if he suddenly ups his level massively in this game. Hope Williams can go with him here.

Am I the only one who can't help being annoyed by Colin Humphries' habit to put the score before the player's name at the end of a break...?

Odrl cheers for the great write-up as usual.

I for one am very happy indeed with the players still within the championship. All very evenly matched so we should have 4 wonderful quarter finals, and the remaining semi's and the Final are all great prospects indeed. Really looking forward to each and every match, which is not something that has happened the past few years. A fantastic end run to this year's WC.

As harsh as I can be re Ronnie sometimes, that interview has shown me the real Ronnie and his feelings. He spoke very eloquent and insightful as well as being very 'human' with honesty about his doubts, pressures and depression always lurking around the corner. It was heartfelt and made me feel for him. Gracious towards Barry as well.

    Impressive interview.
My pleasure daffie, yes it was interesting.
I felt a real honesty from Ronnie, he spoke very well - we all know how he can be at times but this was the real deal.
The pressure he gets under from everyone and himself must be huge, then again thats how it is for a person of his abilities and talents.
Full credit to The Hawk though - he stood his ground.
