What the hell is with McManus' facial expressions when he misses?? It's almost like he's talking to himself. I watched him go in-off from a safety shot earlier, and he started nodding his head, pointing down the table... he even drew a little 'air' box with his fingers
Maguire amuses me too. He often gets so frustrated with his game that he starts to find it amusing and looks on the point of the giggles.
Got to say it's been an interesting opening so far with the matches reasonably poised. Carter will have been disappointed to be 5-4 from 5-1 but would have taken 5-4 at 9:55 this morning. 6-2 to Fu is by no means insurmountable if Ebdon can get off to a good start tonight.
I don't think McManus leading 6-3 is that surprising an outcome - with the fact that Maguire led 3-1 making a 6-3 deficit rather surprising. - Murphy against McGill looks like it'll go close in the same way Murphy v Cope went all the way to the decider in 2014. I think as long as Carter keeps ahead he'll win - as obvious as that sounds but having led by four frames to slip behind will be a real blow. Ideally Carter will want to get three of the first four to go 8-5 up.
Very enjoyable session Murphy & McGill, both missed chances but it was still entertaining with some lovely breaks. 5 - 4 to Murphy is about right I'd say. What's been going on on the other table? I was a bit surprised to see McManus 5 - 3 in front when I switched over. Luckily I didn't miss Maguire's attempt to combine snooker with javelin throwing. :snooker:
I wish they would just drop it so someone who actually wants it picks it up.
Time to fek the beeb off for sure.
I know I was the one who started the whinging, but that's about the fastest way to kill the sport if you ask me.
No one covers the big tournies as well as the beeb. The two go hand in hand, and while their devotion seems to be weakening, I'd hate to see the biggies go anywhere else.
I can't imagine any other channel / network devoting anything even approaching as much time to the WC.
Now I appreciate that comment makes me look rather hypocritical, but you're not going to see this much snooker if it goes elsewhere.
