I was reading in Snooker either this month or last month, that if a player Qualifies for an overseas event and does not travel to play in the event for any reason, then they will receive no prize money or order of merit points to their world rankings, but if they travel to the event and pull out for some reason they will receive prize money and order of merit points, not sure if this is true or not or why World Snooker have done this.

I see four players have pulled out this weeks Kaspersky Riga Masters in Latvia and their opponents have received walkovers (Byes) to the last 32 of the event. Hossein Vafaei Ayouri (due to visa problems), two Chinese players Zhang Anda and Chen Zen, and also today Kyren Wilson, not sure if Kyren travelled to the event to take part in it or why he as pulled out, or even why the two Chinese players have pulled out of the event.

Zhang Anda decided to stay at home and win the National Pro event

you are correct that any qualifiers who does not attend the competition proper, "for whatever reason" does not receive any monies or ranking points. And that others you get to the "event" but pull out before playing will receive monies and points.
This has been discussed in Snooker Scene that in some circumstances this may not be fair.
I have not seen any announcement anywhere where this may be under review or may have changed.

Holt played well, 4-1 over Selby.
Maybe Griffiths' work with Michael is now paying dividends
        or
maybe Mark not getting used to his rebuilt cue
        or
        both

I don't know what the hell went on there, but I can't be bothered messing with the broken edit box. I only meant to quote Dean, once.

OK, I admit it, I'm totally addicted to multi-quote, just can't get enough of the stuff. It's all right though, I can handle it.

That Burger King ad on Trump's chest is soooooooo tacky, looks like he's just come from a kids party. And I wish he'd get rid of that waistcoat with the stripe down the back, don't know why but it really annoys me. :chargrined:

                            Wakelin's pulled one back to 2 - 1. He's a very mature looking 24yo isn't he.
