Mark Selby did the job and showed tonnes of character to come back so strongly from 10-4 down. There seemed to be an aura of inevitability about the outcome after Mark pulled level. Once again, Selby spoiled the fairy tail ending – much like Davis and Hendry so often managed when they were in their prime. Like the aforementioned players, Selby will probably become more appreciated once his star has faded.

Congrats to Mark! Not a huge Selby fan to be honest, but you have to say his third title is well deserved.

Congratulations to Mark Selby! Very deserving world title again, his third. And only the fourth player to successfully defend the title. He just showed he is currently the best player in the world.
And a great tense final. Also kudos to John Higgins who never gave up.

Well, it got a lot better once Higgins started to play himself back into it, but it was no more a classic than last year's, which is a shame.

Still, kudos to Selby, he must be secure as world number one for the next three years now?
