That's the problem with sportsmen who play a physically 'soft' sport like snooker. They aren't used to physical pain. If this was a boxer or a MMA fighter, an injury would be nothing. I already mentioned about Kurt Angle and a broken neck, but for snooker players, any little injury and it's panic stations

No it will have to be after the evening session game has finished. We could be looking at a very late one.

      • Those scrappy frames have so much drama, great to watch. I'd be happy if every frame for the rest of the match was the same, they've surely got to finish this match and postpone the 2.30pm starts till the conclusion....?

To be fair snooker players can't be physically strong because the game is all about touch. A boxer or fighter could never play snooker because they wouldn't have the feel to play the shots. Comparing the two is quite stupid!

Not really, he is still playing isn't he? It has just affected his cueing and his allignment for shots making him play to less than his potential. If a boxer fought with a dislocated thumb or whatever he won't have full confidence in his punch either and would not fight to his potential. No different here.

Also just to add, what about Haye's fight against Bellew, when he hurt his ankle he couldn't do a thing. So no injuries to tough guys has much the same affect as us soft snooker players!

              • McLeods break building is painful to watch, it's definitely what is hampering him from winning this match more comfortably

Yeah he doesn't look very confident on a lot of the pots that you would think would be shots he's played thousands of times, his cue action on in close shots makes it look as if he is sometimes hitting the ball before he means to.

That's why he never climbed up higher in the rankings and hadn't more success overall.

                    • Wouldn't blame Trump for just conceding the match and heading home. He's not winning this match, not playing well enough, in pain, against a player who will do anything to win, why bother waiting around tonight to see when you might get on the table, it could be 11pm.

That's the impression I get, if most of the other pros were in for this break they'd clear up with no hesitation and be comfortable on most shots. He appears laboured and a bit confused in and around the balls. Obviously Trump is affected by injury so he has a great chance of winning this match, but will on this form be soundly beaten next round. It's great for him IF he wins though, he's been on the tour for a long time without that much success and he deserves a few runs of pleasure here and there

Hehe, have you ever played snooker?

'Deserves' how? He's absolute murder to watch. Horrible, horrible snooker player.

Played it for over 25 years, trust me, Trump knows he can't win this match and more importantly he knows he's not capable of winning the tournament if he has an injured shoulder or back or whatever. No point in prolonging the agony in a match/tournament you can't win.

I agree completely, he's a nightmare to play against. A cagey player, plays a lot of negative shots, takes an age too in order to annoy his opponent and to top it off is a lucky player as well. Maguire will struggle just the same because he's another player that mentally McLeod will be able to frustrate.
