  • He needs some form of coaching , Jimmy White said on Commentary on Eurosport that his cue ball control isn't good enough .
Too far away from the object ball a lot of the time .

Could be a player if he sorted that out .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

He's certainly a natural player, but the cue ball control is certainly his achilles heel. If he sorts that out then, who knows............

Not sure you can involve any kind of luck to explain Luca's defeat when he was 7-1 up and Marco stuck in his claws.
Luca is blessed with natural talent but as previously mentionned, he has this tendency to allways find a way to make a stupid shot when he should be more patient and smart. He's going for shots like a puppy after his food. No brain at all.
As for coaching, he's been under Chris Henry's tutelage since being a boy. So he had extensive coaching...

              • The seeded players are 7-1 so far and Higgins and Ding will likely make it 9-1. It's going to make for some amazing matchups in the second round and quarter-finals.

Of the remaining first round matchups, I can see only a couple of possible upsets. Dott and Carter is a tossup and Xiao has a good chance of beating Day. We could end up with 13 or 14 seeds advancing, which would have to be close to the record.

Anyone got a link to this incident. Appears opinion is divided as to whether or not it was a push.

Carter is a different league to Dott in my opinion - should be a formality.

Maybe. Dott just seems to raise his level at the crucible. If he stays close in the first session he could make it interesting.

I tend to agree with that. A lot of people are saying that this is one of the matches where the seed could have problems, but there is quite a dramatic difference between the two players this season. Carter has been to the business end of several major events, including a win and a final, whereas Dott hasn't done anything notable in well over a year. Dott is an experienced player and a great competitor, so I would by no means rule him out here, but I think Carter is still a strong favourite at this point in time.
