Sat in his chair looking like a chippolata tied together with string and sipping water like an athlete, contradictory yes. He's overweight and red around the gills for a reason and that could well be beer.
So what, it's his life, his family may disagree though as one never knows what sort of drunk a person becomes, especially the short ones who tend to be nasty.
Moderation in all things is my mantra, keeps your body from building up a tolerance so you don't need more and more, just indulge yourself now and again but never too much.

He had a few beers through the week and won the tournament, big deal. Alex would probably have drank the same amount he had all week before the mid session interval, pissed in a plant pot and still won the tournament.

It's not evil and millions use it responsibly. There's also a lot of people destroying their own and other's lives with it.
As I said, it's a warning sign and not necessarily a sign that he is going to go the same way as Alex, and as I also said I hope it doesn't go that way.
No controversy, just wishing him well. He doesn't exactly look like he looks after himself.Last edited by vilkrang; 18 December 2018, 07:46 AM.

Big Bill Werbeniuk wouldn't have had much problem with it would he ......lol
Back in the day it was at least acceptable as a club pastime and surely better than Beta Blockers ( accepted for Mr Foulds who had diabetes so needed a level playing field lol!)

Maybe Jimmy feels a little bit of that back in the game brings a bit more entertainment value. Let's face it Daniel Wells looked like he needed a stiff drink when it went 5-5! His arm looked stiff as aboard!

That was weird as ROS said only one or two would try it, then named John Higgins
More Jack, Judd, Luca?

The sad part was that pretty much mocked Alex for it, when I am quite certain that nerves etc were part of it (and the horrible smoking thing with 4 in one hand...)
He was a genius along with Best and ROS, which is why I will defend ROS as he has survived for pretty much more than them combined. Some of what he says is garbage, obviously, althought there is sense in there somewhere ie his "Tour" thing, but he is not the brightest button.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bm5UrrUI9w Nic B impressing me tbh, although CB is far from the same, unlike Jimmy who nailed it. "Demonstration of what you need to play one of the most historic snooker shots. Warning - it is not possible to do on a slow club table with an old cloth - or with worn and dirty snooker balls!" is my point re balls and cloth....
That shot will never be boring to view. I doubt anything quite like it will ever be attempted again in any important match situation.

Not sure it was very responsible for Ronnie to suggest having a drink is an option to get back in to a match but he and Jimmy both sounded like they were hitting the bar last night. By the end of it Jimmy looked sozzled with his red, glazed eyes. Either that or he was knackered.
What are the rules on players drinking alcohol during a match? Are they banned from drinking alcohol during play but can have a drink during intervals?

Nowadays I have thought it more side than screw, which is how ROS got more action on CB.
It may be on the Eurosport Youtube Channel? It certainly should be as it is almost the definitive "shot" ie it doesn't need any more than "Alex Higinns' Blue". Undoubtedly the best 19(ish), let alone 69 ever seen, imho. Nothing has got close top the buzz watching it live....
Btw White said a mate had been getting Alex large Vodka's all day, so no need to worry - Jimmy said that worried him more
The Higgins blue and the 69 is more special by what was at stake one miss and he's out in a World semi, almost like being on the brink made him play better, and never thought about safety even after running out of position so many times, he was clearing up and that was that.
The fact its still remembered and talked about today say's it all really..........Last edited by CueAntW147; 17 December 2018, 08:27 PM.

19(ish)? Oh ages
T'was an exceptional watch as when he got position there was always that "he will miss" thing
