I´m no fan of O´Sullivan, but I very much prefer him pulling out before the tournament than seeing him behave like he did at the UK Championship and the Shanghai Masters.

Steve will pull out of the premier league, a bye will ensure valuable ranking points, Davis has no chance in the premier league, Hearn will not sue, thats ridiculous, they are mates.
Regards Ronnie, a doctors note will ensure no action is taken. Each side of the devide will not change their minds and we have been here many times before.
I once said to a nurse, about a difficult patient, " He is swinging the lead, nothing wrong with him," He replied," well the fact he is behaving like that proves he is ill" enough said.

With regards World snooker, they run snooker to their own timetable, The premier league is nothing to do with them, the premier league is fun, nothing more, its up to the premier league to fit in, nothing that happens in that format should even count on a players cv.
Its irrelevent--- not on the tour, world snooker should ban any player that skips a tournament to play in it. Its a complete no brainer, If Davis and Hearn didnt run it then it wouldnt even be on the radar. They have been a problem for snooker since the day they teamed up.

moondan Ding Junhui is in danger of falling out of the top 16 because he pulled out of barhain to play davis in the league..........it wont be fair if theres no match for him to play there.....and Barry Hearn has said he will sue any player that is in breach of contract.????

christ Barry Hearn Sues Steve Davis stephen spieldberg couldnt make that up lol

Wild, Ding is a fool, World snooker runs snooker, ban him and all who dont forfill their obligation to the tour. For me its complete nonsense, no wonder they skip from disaster to disaster. Of course a doctors note has to be taken on trust, there is no alternative for them.

People have already bought tickets, and Hearn has a contract with Sky. If there isn't a match then Hearn is in danger of being sued for breach of contract himself. Also if Davis doesn't play Ding then everyone elses' points from playing him would have to be deducted and it could dramatically alter the table - it would effectively shag up the Premier League. Davis will be playing his League match that much is guaranteed, the question is how he gets out of the Bahrain tournament: withdrawal or questionable defeat.

Templeton, I repeat, what has the premier league got to do with the tour, next it will be Higgins world series.

World Snooker does not 'run snooker'

It is the commercial arm of the governing body responsible only for its own tournaments

They told Hearn he could stage the PL on November 13, which is why he signed a contract with Sky to do so

The fault for all this (not Ronnie, the rest of it) lies with World Snooker and World Snooker alone

In off, arm or leg its still the same body.

Shame the Rockets not going then, they could have all hitched a lift.

Ronnie doesn't have the same professionalism as Steve Davis or Stephen Hendry. This is the one of the reasons that he doesn't have the same record as the other two. It's been his tendency to miss tournaments outside UK and even if he has taken part in it them it seems as if he is not giving his 100%.

as I understand it, Ronnie has withdrawn from Bahrain with a medical certificate from his doctor ...

that's it ... that's all that has or should be said ... Dott withdrew from the Shanghai Masters with the same ... other players have done the same in years gone by ...

what *exactly* is anyone's complaint about that ... I dunno know the rules of the WBSPA exactly but there is another thread also very active on this forum discussing that Steve Davis will withdraw from Bahrain due to "financial commitments" ...

now that's hardly an infectious disease is it, but I would wholly support Sreve Davis on that one, as I wholly support Ronnie O'Sullivan ...

surely the reason we will miss them so much is because they are both such great players ...

Ronnie O'Sullivan has withdrawn from the new ranking tournament in Bahrain, starting on Saturday. The world champion claims that he has been feeling "very run down recently". His withdrawal follows that of three other leading players, John Higgins, Mark Selby and Ding Junhui, who were already contracted to Premier League matches at Haywards Heath on November 13.

Steve Davis, who is attempting to regain his top-16 ranking, survived last week's qualifying competition and was due to play O'Sullivan in Bahrain. Now Davis will play either Marco Fu or a qualifier next Tuesday. Last night Davis, who has an ear infection, was also a doubtful starter.
                        Bold added by me.
                        Speaking of infectious disease ....

Moon ... we know you don't like Steve Davis and his manager (understatetement of an early tuesday morning) but please be fair
The PL may be a fun event it has been a very good showcase for the game over the last years and has brought snooker - very often high quality - and big names to places in UK where opportunities to watch it life were non existant especially with the quasi disappearance of all the invitational and team events that made snooker alive in the 80th and 90th. PL has been moved from spring to fall in 2005 to accomodate the WPBSA calendar. BH had checked with WPBSA before setting up the dates - venues and Sky arrangements included - and contracting the players. He has his hands tied... I understand a new ranker was not to be dismissed but at such late notice some inconveniences couldn't be helped. The players certainly shouldn't be the ones to pay the price; although they already do to some extent.
Now lets hope the lesson is learnt and all parties involved in snooker promotion sit together before the next season starts to set up a consistent and agreed schedule. (wishfull thinking!)

ear infection... if he'd only pulled out earlier.

Oh Steve you're a sly old fox! Of course with an ear infection the advice from his doctor won't be not to play, it will be not to fly. That means he can effectively pull out of Bahrain, get his qualification points and still play in the Premier League.

Jesus. Where to start on this thread ????

Suffice to say NONE of it is good news for Snooker once again.

As for Ronnie ? Well...none of us saw *that* coming, eh ? ...

Well, if Steve really is going to pull out, he's probably doing the right thing. Otherwise if he goes to play and loses the match - no matter in what fashion - he's bound to be accused of throwing it.
