selby just gave thumbs up - I guess to some disturbance in the crowd.
so yeah, someone is literally supporting ding
my guess would be there are some people anti-supporting selby, therefore, supporting ding
You always get a few idiots at Wembley, but the 1st round is usually pretty harmless.

is it just me or anyone else thinks they play rather negative and prefer safety to attacking shots?
yes at least a few times it seemed to be that it was possible to attack, but both chose safety... should be down to their feeling on how risky those shots were (they were not sitters) and where white (& red) could have ended up. i think it shows how seriously they take this match. well with selby you never know, but I think this time it was more of responsibility than some gamemanship or not feeling in a potting mood therefore going for safety. and the guy needs some earnings this season, seems pretty motivated
ding must be feeling awful - eg in 3rd frame he gave 2 such easy entries for Mark, who is not forgiving anything today so far.
