Now that Statman has spotted that it is not necessarily a maximum break, you are looking at this:

'a MATCH where one player scored EXACTLY 147 (but not necessarily ine one break), where his opponent only made between 80 and 85 (not necessarily in one break)'

So essentially a match where the total points score was only about the 225 mark, and one player made 147 of those points.

    Haha!

Good spot Statman! It does not necessarily mean MB!

Obligation, can you confirm the question means "had a 147" as in "made a maximum break"?

Just that the word "a" is missing and the "scored 147" could be slightly ambiguous.

Actually Lindea was not correct, but in everyone's zest to get on with it (apologies for my remissness) I will give her the point. It was indeed Mark King in 1993, but Bernard Bennett, not Mark Bennett, in 1989.

Obli, in that case there is not only one match like that you are waiting to hear in the answer. Campbell scored 1+13+58+16+0=88 points (though maybe my source might be wrong) So, it even fits the clue you gave us. Be more specific

I think it might be Bingham's 147 in the 2006 Masters qualifying event, the match against Marcus Campbell which Stuart won 5-0.

I think this happened in the 2nd round of the 2003 British Open. John Higgins made a 147 in his 5-1 defeat of Micheal Judge.
