Yep, we've never had the German union/mgt system we deserved. You'll still find Network Rail staff sleeping on the job at night in vans/bothies. Partly why the network is so bad and ticket prices so high. But in most industries, reality has set in. Unfortunately, the UK allows subsidised companies/industries to unfairly compete with ours. Then there is the snobbery, folk who will always buy a German car even though all the experts say a Jag is better, cheaper and more reliable. British workers screwed by govt. and their own people.

The only way to change things is revolution, but there's far too many lazy sunbathers. This country isn't in the state it's in because of immigration, it's our gob****e politicians and the people who won't do a thing about it. Power to the people!

Who says a jag is better than a Beamer? Also jags are owned by an Indian company now, Tata, I don't think there is a mass produced Brittish car manufacturer now, but I could be wrong.

We are one of ,if not the best engineering and design country's in the world, that's why nearly all the F1 teams are based in the UK. I am surprised a company hasn't risen from the ashes as we have proved we can build cars, unfortunately it's other people's cars now, and all our big names are in other people's hands.

Agreed and we are very good at it ,but everyone here is an employee, not an owner.

Yes very true, we have amazing talents and capabilities.
Aston Martin is a good example.

I think we have a middle-class and upper-class mgt and ownership problem. At the end MG were making some good cars but they're gone, well, they're Chinese now. I agree with your sunbathers thing, it's an attitude problem that comes from the posh, public school tommy tankers. The entitled attitude. Then we have a huge amount of aspirers who love their German cars, the audi/bmw/merc types who can't wait to sell this country down the river for a badge, not bothered if Brits have jobs in the industrial heartlands or not. This contrasts strongly with German attitudes to home products (that's why Germany is a net exporter and we're net importers). A lot of these folk are pro-EU because they have no loyalty to their own. But a lot of the brexit folk can be seen driving euro cars as well. So both sides are full of the unpatriotic in reality. They'll talk the UK talk but they won't walk the UK walk. Do you think Farage and his nutcase R-wing buddies care for line workers? Nope, they spend no time with them, don't even know them because those folk don't live in Surrey and don't matter.

So yes, a revolution is long overdue.

Because I know they are. Farage has long admitted to being Thatcher's child. He favours tax cuts for the rich, that hurts the poor. We all know this. There have been endless scandals where UKIP supporters have been caught making racist remarks. UKIP absorbed a lot of the BNP supporters and voters. These are facts.

The Independent can hardly be accused of being left wing, hence it's name. Have a read of this:

                          • Brexit, in or out.

Recently been working on a deal with Jaguar Land Rover and the impression we get is that Tata gives them 'nearly' free range, especially in design and development.
Also don't forget Morgan, Caterham, and Ariel
The UK may have lost its mass production but there is a huge number of specialist and unique firms across all sectors of industries; development, research, testing, and high end electronics.
I believe only F1 Ferrari does not have any location in the UK, but even they source components from specialised UK firms as well as personal (a friend is currently bouncing between Italy and UK working for Ferrari F1).
