This is what I like about this format. A player ranked in the 17-32 bracket is out on day 1 (Martin Gould), and whilst I like Martin, lovely guy and hugely entertaining to watch, we now know that someone ranked below 32 will definitely play at the Crucible from his section. Previously, the 17-32 bracket were all involved right up until the final day.

It's all about who's got the conkers now in this section. Hope Tian Pengfei is the qualifier, but my head says Jamie Jones & Sam Baird will battle it out.

Looking like 8-8 in the White-Hallworth match. Could we have ANOTHER section about to be blown open?

Anyone else prefer the streaming viewing angle to that of the regular tv angle ? Something about this makes the game look harder and tenser, they had a similar angle to this at the Crucible in the 90's,its better imo.

White makes it thru a close match with some
pretty good frames played by both players.
Un-Noon has 2 nice centuries and may win
                  his match.
Gould lost which I had hoped to see him win
but his was the only surprise so far I would say.
Looking forward to Evans vs Doherty which is
a 5am start tomorrow morning my time.

Alfie Burden losing heavily would I think be seen as a surprise,I'm not even sure his top 64 place is safe so he may have needed to win this.

Alfie Burden - he could be out as I'm not about his merit placing
shame as met him a couple of times and always wish him well.
                      well done Mitchell Mann though

Burden is currently sitting above the 4th ranked Asian OoM qualifier, so he has that safety net to fall back on should he need it. McLeod, however has no such protection and if sufficient players overtake him, he'a a goner.

I'm gutted for Martin Gould. I thought he might have had a good run this year.
