There are always some big surprises in the qualifiers under the new format, but this time there were some especially strange results.
Liang not winning a single frame against Jamie Jones??
Tian first taking out his compatriot Yan and then making only one frame against Wakelin?
Half of the matches of the last round the loser wasn't winning more than four frames.

We've got four crucible debutants in Highfield, Lyu, Un-Nooh (nice, that he finally made it) and Wakelin. Looking forward to the draw.

Shame for Burden (Q-School now?) as I have a soft spot for him as being the first Pro-player I spoke to
Foulds said Burden might make the top 8 on the one year list so might not need to go to Q-school, but it was also said he was not going to go to Q-school.

It's interesting that at least one of us chose almost every player that made it. The only two exceptions being Stuart Carrington (Gould section) and Jamie Jones (Liang section)

I didn't notice Fu when I scanned the wiki page, lol.

Brecel is an odd one as he has had cue troubles? Has he got one that he "likes" yet?

    Has McGill done much lately?

They'd be getting in each others way all the time.

I'd say Marco Fu, he hasn't played since the masters and he said his eyes are no better or worse.

Easily Brecel, the way he's been playing lately. I don't think there's any way he gets by the first round unless his form improves dramatically.

That loose safety means Vafaei is out; by a Maguire who did not have it all his own way and who seems to have found a shaving gel and blade that works for him
