That sounds like the most plausible answer yet (together with changing trousers), as he probably had a good idea whom he would be facing in the Final after beating Stevens.

But I'll guess: went to watch a video of Stevens's 147 against him in the Masters, for inspiration?

    ROUND ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE

The date: Friday 4 May 1984. The location: Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. The occasion: World semi-finals.

Jimmy White finds himself 5-4 behind to Kirk Stevens, and is on a break in the mid-60s. He leaves the arena in a hurry, and then returns to the arena to complete his break (which ends at about 85).

My question is: what was his reason for leaving the arena?

I'm certain a player did borrow the sponors car one year to get home though.

TS, here's one for you you:

Who was the first man to compile 3 centuries in 4 frames in the Championship? (and, using the old crystalite balls)

I know you know the answer but, I just wanted to emphasise what a great player he was.

    No correct answers so far.

I do not need to know the make and model (in fact, I don't know them!), the closest answer so far is "Terry Griffiths lent him his car" because that only needs two words changing to be correct...
