CORRECT! Why did that not catch anybody out? Well done for reading the question correctly, that is the first thing you must do when taking part in a quiz!

Well done Cyril, it was indeed Bob Chaperon in the 1990 British Open. In the last 16, he was 4-4 with Robidoux 48 ahead with one red left in the decider. He gained two snookers, the second with a free ball. After taking a black with the free ball he snookered himself on the last red but managed to pot it from the snooker and completed the 40 clearance to win him the match.

So here's the scoreboard after Round 375:

    Bob Chaperon.

He needed 3 or 4 against Robidoux.

Good question - Bit of a flyer this one - I'll try David Gray, not in the 2004 UK Championship,, but his only other ranking win?!

I've just had a look at the stats section to see if it could be someone recent, but I don't think it is. I did spot a possible mistake though. Ali Carter is listed as having won two ranking events, but I'm sure his only title to date is the 2009 Welsh Open...

Yes I remember now, he was the third player in the World Cup, the events of which led to the famous "I'll have you shot" malarkey between Alex Higgins and Dennis Taylor.

    Anyway here is...

    ROUND THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-FIVE

Nigel Bond famously won the 1996 British Open from needing snookers in the deciding frame of the final.

My question is: Which other player won a ranking event having, at some stage in the tournament, needed snookers in the only frame his opponent required to knock him out.

A short clue: the player I am looking for has won either one or two ranking tournaments in total.
