Am I being unfair to think McManus beating Carter would be something of an upset?

I like McManus though, so I'm not complaining

when your opponent is obviously frustrated with how they are doing at the table, this is when you relax and take the chances given to go further ahead; this is what McManus is doing, Ali does not have much time left to get control of his inside-machinations...
"all the way"? I doubt it unless Ali demonstrates superb personal control and relaxes

Think Carter has the right idea if the table gives you a kick, punch it back!

They 100% definitely are the vast majority of the time. You can see it with Ronnie because when he has a kick he doesn't get the cue ball cleaned because he realises he just hit it poorly, and he very rarely gets more than 1 kick in a break despite not having the cue ball cleaned.

It's doing my head in, literally every shot they are blaming kicks, even when they miss thin by about 6 inches. Weird that the actual successful players like Ronnie don't blame kicks and Hendry thinks they are caused by poor cueing.
