Zeroprobe wrote some pretty nasty stuff. He's gone back and re-edited or deleted all his posts, which probably says more than I can say about them. There was nothing fair and balanced.

    • Bonman1970 wasn't particularly balanced either:

'good luck to Trump I hope he kicks his fat arse back to Scotland a loser again , he doesnt even deserve to be playing again !'

      So that's a small handful.

      • So John Higgins does not use the Q-Rite attachment
they work well for those awkward down the cushion shots

He must have deleted them before I saw them. The only really negative posts that I read were posted by Bonman1970.

I’m not a massive John Higgins fan, but the attitude towards him by certain individuals here over the last few pages has been 100x more despicable than his own behaviour. I hope he wins now, if only because it will annoy certain people here!
I agree and don't see why some people despise John because of it. Comments on youtube snooker videos are rife with vile comments from people who are clearly not genuine snooker fans. If you asked them what they think of Stephen Lee they would probably say "who's he?"

I think the green eyed monster plays a big part.

              • I've been avidly watching and playing snooker for over 30 years and must say; Alan McManus is, very surprisingly, the most insightful commentator I have ever heard.

I say surprisingly probably a little unfairly as he was one of the most dour snooker players on tour and showed absolutely no personality whatsoever when playing.

It strikes me that he is a little bit of a connoisseur of our great game.

when I first saw Alan punditry on the ITV4 events a few years ago I had the same feeling; and love his insight and his banter

They were as bad as Bonhams, probably worse.

Someone else said that Higgins had thrown a match against Jordan Brown? Never heard that one before. Sounds made up and less than 'balanced' .

So that's 2 people being despicable and one person making stuff up. I think Billy got it spot on.

He's made for life, has a family to spend time with, and his game would probably benefit from picking his tournaments. I think he finds it hard to turn earning down.
When the players are in their 20s they are enjoying splashing out winnings on flash cars and holidays but 20 years later even with millions in the bank they are playing for their children's and great grand children's futures. It's the same for Ronnie and if they retired now that could be 1 million+ in prize money they lose out on over the next few years. They wont be spending it at the casino but banking it for putting the kids through uni or helping with their first house.

I'm the one who brought up the Jordan Brown match. I'm not anti-Higgins and wish him all the luck for the final.

But this Jordan Brown v John Higgins match at the 2012 Scottish Open contains a myriad of strange shot choices from John. There's an off day and there's this, it's something else. At 4:41 he taps the brown ball into a pottable position and seems to smirk and cover his mouth as he walks away.

If I won 8 million on the lottery tonight, and someone offered me another 2 million tomorrow, I'm going to say yes. If there's one thing I like more than having money, it's having more money. Should Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos quit after they made their first million? 10 million? 100 million? Of course not, and John Higgins shouldn't be expected to stop playing on the basis he has already been quite successful. Crazy.

You can't just make stuff up.

4.41 in that video he takes the pot on, but grossly underhits it because he is in so close and jabs at it. He smiles and laughs because it's an absolutely terrible shot. Where's the match fixing? Investigation? Evidence? Of course not.

Agreed. Even if he was trying to throw a frame there is no way he'd make it that obvious. The conspiracy theorists are out in full force in the comments section. Pathetic.
